The Jardín Botánico in Quito( Botanical Garden of Quito)is one of the main attractions of Quito.This beautiful place has an area of 18,600 square meters and is located in the province of Pichincha in Ecuador.

The schedule to visit the Jardín Botánico is Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:45 pm and Sundays and holidays from 9am to 4.45pm. To enter you have to pay an entrance fee of 3.50 USD for adults and 2.00 USD for children.
The history of this botanical garden dates back to October 4th,1989, a day on which an agreement was signed between the Garden Club, the Ecuadorian Museum of Natural Sciences and the Municipality of Quito. At that time an agreement was made to convert the old municipal nursery from Parque de la Carolina, into this beautiful Jardín Botánico in Quito.
You can see numerous species of plants both from Ecuadorian and other countries. You´ll also be able to appreciate some streams and waterfalls which give this place a special touch that is worth visiting.
This place is very pleasant to see since it´s divided by paths within which all the different species of flora that live there are exhibited.

The purpose of the Garden is to work in educating people so that they can learn more about the flora of Ecuador and apply techniques for its conservation.
Additionally, experiential workshops are conducted for students in order to promote conservation through education. It should be noted that the fantastic work carried out in this Jardín Botánico has been awarded by various entities of the Botanical community, both nationally and internationally.
